Ledley King's Talking Points
Chelsea put five past bottom of league Huddersfield to bring a shaky streak to an end in style. New signing Higuain scored two to open his Premier League Account. After a stale performance against Bournemouth it will be interesting to see which Higuain we will see over the next few games.
Spurs were second in the PL temporarily after Son’s strike against Newcastle gave Poch’s side all thee points. Son has now scored 14 goals in all competitions for Spurs in a season that has been interrupted by commitments with South Korea twice. He's a committed leader who turns up when it matters most.
Sergio Aguero scored his 10th PL hat-trick to help Man City to a comfortable win over Arsenal. Only Alan Shearer has got more (11) while Aguero has now scored 42 goals against the ‘big six’, twice as many as Harry Kane (21) and Wayne Rooney (20) have managed.
Wolves won their first game at Goodison Park in 40 years to pile even more pressure on Marco Silva. The Portuguese manager has suffered six defeats in nine PL games, but he insists self-motivation is the problem for Everton: “When you are talking to me about ambition or motivation or focus, then to me that is the obligation of the player.”
Norwich were the victors when first faced second in the Championship, beating Leeds comfortably at Elland Road. The 3-1 scoreline was enough to take the Canaries into first place on goal difference. Leeds have now lost four of their last six.
Bristol City took advantage of Derby’s Friday night draw with Preston by climbing into sixth with a 2-0 defeat of Swansea. Bristol have won 7 in a row in all comps, and are unbeaten since November.
Sheffield United kept the pressure on the top two with a 2-0 win over struggling Bolton. The result boosts the Blades’ promotion hopes, putting them within three points of both Leeds and Norwich, and with superior goal difference.
