Ledley's Talking Points: Sensational Salah, Spurs' Hunt For Silverware and Relegation Scraps
7 Talking Points
Mo Salah hit four goals to help Liverpool breeze past Watford, and we’re running out of superlatives to describe the Egyptian’s season. “I don’t think Mo or anybody else wants to be compared with Lionel Messi,” said Jurgen Klopp after the 5-0 win, “but I think Mo is on the way [to being the best in the world].”
Spurs knocked Swansea out of FA Cup with a brace from Christian Eriksen and a goal from Lamela on the stroke of half-time. It was a dominant performance that sees Spurs reach their third consecutive FA Cup semi-final, and a chance to win the cup for the first time since 1991.
West Brom are as good as relegated after their eighth straight defeat in the Premier League. The Baggies have won only three of their 31 league games this season and are 10 points adrift of safety with seven games to play. Alan Pardew has won just one of his 17 games in charge of the club.
Stoke are also looking desperate after their 2-1 defeat to Everton. Their position is not as damning with just three points between them and safety, but their performance against Big Sam’s side was one of a team that look out of luck. They didn’t play too bad, but losing crucial games when you play well is rarely a good sign.
Millwall are starting to believe they can reach the playoffs after their sixth consecutive away win in the Championship. They are now 12 games unbeaten in the league, four points outside the playoffs with eight games to play.
Birmingham ended Hull’s recent run of form with Garry Monk’s first win in charge of the Blues. The 3-0 victory put them level on points with Barnsley after their defeat to Millwall, and gives them a much needed boost in the battle for survival.
Accrington Stanley are now three points clear at the summit of League Two with a game in hand after Luton and Notts County both dropped points. Accrington struck twice in the final 10 minutes to take a 3-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers.
The Legends scored just 75 points this week with none of the lads able to net more than 16 points. The Legends are now in 21st place in the team table for the season.
