Ledley King's Talking Points

West Brom remain firmly in the Championship promotion hunt after a 2-0 win against Aston Villa on Saturday. Two quick-fire goals just before half-time secured all three points for Darren Moore’s men, to keep them within six points of top spot.

Sheffield United and Norwich both put four goals past their opponents, Reading and Bolton, to set the pace at the top of the Championship table. Both teams ended Saturday as 4-0 victors, with two points separating the teams in the race for automatic promotion.

Sheffield Wednesday scored an equaliser in the 10th minute of added time in a dramatic conclusion to their tie with Rotherham. A win for the Millers would have pulled them out of the relegation zone, but the point means it is only goal difference that separates them from safety.

Luton Town extended their unbeaten run to 20 games with a 2-1 win at Fleetwood. George Moncur and Pelly Ruddock scored either side of half-time to maintain the Hatters’ six-point lead at the top of League One.

Portsmouth threw away a 3-0 lead and the chance to keep the pressure on Barnsley in the League One automatic promotion spots, after Simon Cox’s hat-trick salvaged a point for Southend. Pompey are now six games without a win.

Stevenage came from 2-0 down to snatch a point against League Two leaders Lincoln with two goals late on. Ilias Chair pulled on back in the 87th minute before grabbing the equaliser in the 94th minute.

Motherwell secured a sixth consecutive Scottish Premiership win after a stoppage-time howler from Hearts goalkeeper Colin Doyle. A tame free-kick bounced over a kneeling Doyle’s shoulder and into the back of the net to gift Motherwell all the points.
