Ledley's Talking Points
Vincent Kompany's 35-yard rocket was his first goal n the Premier league from outside the box, and it was up there with the most important of his career. The only goal in Man City's win over Leicester keeps City in pole position for the title, which excitingly for the neutral, goes right down to the wire with everything to play for on the final day this Sunday.
Man United failed to beat Huddersfield to crash out of the race for a Champions League spot. It was a feeble performance in what felt like a must-win for Solskjaer's side, who have now won just two of their last 11 games in all competitions. "The Europa League is the right place for us to be," Ole admitted.
Arsenal were also unable to see off Brighton, meaning they will also miss out on Champions League football next year unless they win the Europa League. Aaron Ramsay bid an emotional farewell to the Emirates as he prepares to move to Turin, and based on what was a tame performance from the Gunners, it looks like he will be missed.
The United and Arsenal results mean that despite defeat, Spurs have all but confirmed a top four place. Chelsea's 3-0 win over Watford means they are officially qualified for the UCL, with the four clubs battling for a top four finish losing 9 games between them, and winning just six, over the past 5 rounds.
Derby secured their spot in the Championship Playoffs with a 3-1 victory over West Brom on the final day of the season. It means Lampard's side will face Bielsa's Leeds in the first round, while Aston Villa play West Brom in the battle for promotion.
Stephen Humphrys scored a dramatic 87th-minute winner against Sunderland to keep Southend in League One. The forward was brought on in the 78th minute and made it 2-1 against Sunderland, to give Southend the three points needed to avoid the drop.
MK Dons took the last automatic promotion spot with a narrow victory over Mansfield. It was winners takes all, as a win for Mansfield would have had the reverse outcome, but it is Mansfield who will have to earn promotion the hard way through the playoffs after the 1-0 defeat.
