Weekly Draw Predictions: Matchweek 15
Good news for Crystal Palace fans! It’s another international break this weekend, so you don’t have to sit through another Match of the Day horror show. For the rest of us it just means that we’re delving into the lower leagues for this week’s predictions.
As most of the teams were in FA Cup action last weekend it’s worth looking back a couple of weeks to gauge their league form – especially given that there were no big Cup upsets to give anyone’s confidence a wobble.
In the fixtures from Matchweek 14, League Two was full of draws. Two nil-nils, a one-all, a two-all and a three-all were recorded in a weekend that saw a tasty 35 goals fly in. It looks like the safest place to pick a draw this week too: three of our draw predictions come from England’s third tier.
This Week’s Draw Predictions
Carlisle United v Yeovil Town
Carlisle and Yeovil go into this League Two tie 16th and 17th respectively. Both teams are struggling for consistency this term, so although they’re coming off the back of differing results in their last league games – Carlisle drew 2-2 at lowly Cheltenham whereas Yeovil beat Stevenage 3-0 – this one looks like a draw. It’ll be Carlisle’s fourth in a row if it is.
Exeter City v Grimsby Town
The table is kind to Exeter City who sit fourth but haven’t won in four games and have scored just three times in their last five matches. Grimsby haven’t done much better – netting four in their last five and managing three 0-0 draws. Both sides drew their previous League Two games, and they’ve drawn three of their last four meetings. It looks like they’ll be claiming a point each this weekend too.
Coventry City v Mansfield
Mansfield may have only won once on the road this season, but no one in League Two has clocked up more away draws than them. Coventry haven’t scored in their last two games at the Ricoh Arena, so whilst eight league places separate the home side (in 6th) from their opponents, it looks set to be a close one.
Sure Draw Prediction This Week
Gillingham FC v Bury
Going into the 17th round of League One fixtures, these two find themselves relegation zone neighbours. Although the Gills’ picked up a valuable three points away at Rotherham in their last league match, their home form is about as unspectacular as Bury’s form on the road so far this season. Add to that the fact that these two have a close head-to-head record (Gillingham 23 wins, Bury 21 wins, 10 draws) and it’s got stalemate written all over it.
Wildcard Draw Prediction
Guiseley v Bromley
These two are at opposite ends of the Vanarama National League but Guiseley are having a mini resurgence of late. They’re unbeaten in their last four league matches and beat promotion-chasing Woking last time out, leaving them a point above the relegation zone.
Bromley are without a win in their last two league games and took a 4-0 spanking in the FA Cup at the hands of Rochdale last weekend. They’ll be hoping to steady the ship and put the brakes on Guiseley’s climb up the table.
