Weekly Draw Predictions: Matchweek 16

Copy of Draw Predictions 2

Following last weekend’s international break, there’s a full UK fixture list to make selections from this weekend.

Last weekend League Two was once again the best place to dig for a draw prediction. For the second week running there were a total of five games that finished all square. Crewe are currently the only team in the league not to have drawn at least one of their last five matches.

In the last round of Premier League games there was just one draw. That came in the Stoke v Leicester match as Peter Crouch headed home a Shaqiri corner to salvage a point for the home side. Not many will fancy Leicester’s chances of taking any points this weekend as they host the seemingly unstoppable Manchester City.

In the Prem this weekend, David Moyes will take charge of his first game as West Ham manager on Saturday as his team travels to Watford and he’ll be looking to kick start the Hammers’ season. Moyes was his usual inspiring self in an interview given after he took the job, saying “if it works, great. If it doesn’t, I’ll see the East End of London for seven months then I’ll go elsewhere.”

This Week’s Draw Predictions

Sunderland v Millwall

In football league history, no team has gone 20 home games without a win... Yet. Sunderland are on 19 going into Saturday’s game.

Both of these sides suffered 1-0 defeats in their previous games and recent form has been unsettled. Managerless Sunderland are the only team in the top four divisions not to have won a home game this season, and Millwall are yet to take three points from an away fixture.

Crystal Palace v Everton

Is it too early in the season to call a game a six-pointer? This certainly looks like one. Palace and Everton are struggling this season and it’s sure to be a hotly contested encounter at Selhurst Park as they battle to find form.

Three of the previous five meetings between these two ended in draws and, if their recent inconsistencies are anything to go by, it looks like they’ll be sharing the points.

Watford v West Ham

Marco Silva’s Watford have only managed one home win so far this season but they’re still over-achieving and find themselves in 9th place in the Premier League. To maintain that position, they’ll need to bounce back from three straight defeats. The Hammers know how to scrape a draw though – they’ve done so in their last three away games – and they’ll be keen to make a good start under their new boss too.

Sure Draw Prediction This Week

Port Vale v Barnet

Of course our sure draw pick comes from League Two. Port Vale and Barnet sit 22nd and 23rd in the league respectively as they come head to head for the first time since 2013 when – you guessed it – they drew 0-0. There’s one point separating them as it stands and we think it’ll be the same story come Saturday evening.

Wildcard Draw Prediction

Leeds v Middlesbrough

On Sunday lunchtime Thomas Christiansen’s Leeds host a Middlesbrough side who’ll be high in confidence after beating their North East rivals Sunderland 1-0 last time out. His opposite number Garry Monk left Leeds in the summer before taking charge at Boro and is likely to receive a hostile reception at Elland Road.

Leeds have lost their last three but remain only three points adrift of their opponents and the Championship play-offs, and they’ll be looking to prove a point to their old boss.
