Weekly Winning Predictions: Matchweek 14

Man City’s flying start to the season continued at the Hawthorns last Saturday, but if there’s one thing we can take from the game it’s that, perhaps for the first time, they didn’t look unbeatable.

It finished 3-2 to City and it was another job done for Pep, but it was their least emphatic victory of the season this far. Next up it’s an exciting tie against Arsenal, but do the Gunners have the quality to hand England’s only remaining unbeaten side their first taste of defeat?

Spurs trail the league leaders by eight points after their 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Gary Neville compared Mourinho to Floyd Mayweather in his post-match analysis, saying: “Mayweather is called boring at times, where he uses defence as a weapon, let's people punch themselves out.”

That’s exactly what United did against Spurs, wearing them down and exploiting their late mistake to take victory. This Sunday, United travel to Stamford Bridge for another mouth-watering fixture, while Spurs host basement boys Crystal Palace at their temporary home.

This Week’s Win Predictions

Man City vs Arsenal

Arsenal have won four of their previous five Premier League games, but they have won just two of their previous 17 league clashes with the top 6, including their most recent 4-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. They will be well up for this one and it’s set up to be a corker, but City’s quality going forward will likely prove too much for Arsenal.

Derby County vs Reading

Derby are pushing for the playoff places after a six-game unbeaten run, while opponents Reading are fighting to stay outside the relegation zone after picking up just one win in their last eight. The Rams will be expected to win this one to keep the pressure on the current top six.

Rangers vs Partick Thistle

Rangers are not yet back to their best, and will not rival Celtic for dominance in the Scottish Premiership this season, but they are still one of the league’s strongest outfits and will be expected to beat Saturday’s opponents Partick Thistle, who have just two wins in12 s far this season.

Sure Winner Prediction this Week

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace

Spurs suffered their second defeat of the season last Saturday, but will surely bounce back to winning ways this weekend as they play host to Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace. Palace scored a 97th-minute equaliser against West Ham on Saturday to earn their first draw and fourth point of the season, but the relegation favourites have a tough weekend ahead.

Wildcard Prediction

Southampton vs Burnley

Southampton are the bookies' favourites in this one, but Burnley are now just three points behind Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League. Last season the clarets only picked up seven points on the road, but have already taken points at Stamford Bridge, Anfield, Goodison Park and Wembley this season. They are shaping up to be this season’s surprise package
