Weekly Winning Predictions: Matchweek 15
Another Premier League weekend, another chance for Man City to prove that they’re the cream of the crop. Led by the mercurial Kevin de Bruyne, City took Arsenal apart at the Etihad in classy show that finished 3-1.
Elsewhere on what was a huge Sunday of football, Chelsea won a tight battle against Man United at Stamford Bridge 1-0. Both Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and goal scorer Alvaro Morata praised the importance of the win post-match. Those three points closed the gap between second placed United and the Blues – who are fourth – to just one point.
And in what was The Prem’s biggest banker of the weekend, Spurs piled more misery on Crystal Palace by beating them 1-0 at Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino’s side had lost their previous two London derbies at their new home ground this season, so this will give them a real boost ahead of their next Premier League outing when they visit arch-rivals Arsenal.
This Week’s Win Predictions
This weekend sees the return of World Cup qualifiers – and the small matter of England playing Germany – so this week’s 7OTB predictions are looking pretty tough. With no Premier League or Championship fixtures, it’s time to put our football league hats on.
Ebbsfleet v Leyton Orient
In Saturday evening’s National League game, Ebbsfleet host Leyton Orient, who’ve had a torrid time on the road of late. Orient, who were relegated from League 2 last season in the midst of an ownership debacle, sit three points clear of the relegation zone going into the game and have conceded 18 away goals this season. Ebbsfleet are 3 points away from a play-off place.
AFC Wimbledon v Peterborough
Two weekends ago we saw Peterborough end a streak of four winless games with a shock win over previously unbeaten Shrewsbury. They’ll be full of confidence after that and it’ll doubtless be a tough afternoon for 20th placed AFC Wimbledon – regardless of their home advantage. Marcus Maddison scored a beauty in the win against Shrewsbury and Posh fans will be hoping he has his shooting boots on again this Sunday.
Rochdale v Wigan
The Latics are in hot pursuit of League One leaders Shrewsbury, taking 17 points from a possible 21 over their last seven league fixtures. The gap between Wigan and the Shrews is now just one point and the former will have the chance to leapfrog the latter this weekend with a win at Rochdale. Dale are sat in 19th place having won just one in seven, while Shrewsbury have a tougher opponent in 4th place Charlton.
Sure Winner Prediction This Week
Bradford v Plymouth
The Bantams had some slight turbulence in the middle of October with a draw sandwiched between two defeats in the league, but look to have recovered with three wins on the bounce in all comps. Bradford are third in league One and face Plymouth, who sit rock bottom with just two wins in sixteen, on Saturday.
Wildcard Win Prediction
Solihull v Sutton
Sutton haven’t lost in their last five games but, of those five, four were draws. Their away trip to Solihull is the perfect opportunity to bring home all three points though, as Solihull sit rooted to the foot of the National League table. They’ve already been beaten 13 times this season.
Usually reliable away from home, Sutton are as good a wildcard shout this weekend as any. Will they inflict a fourth straight loss on their opponents?
